Persuasion At Interlochen Center For The Arts Summer Camp

Persuasion at Interlochen For three months last summer I worked as front of house staff at Interlochen Center for the Arts summer camp. My job had a large range of roles. I would guard the stage when guest stars performed, run the front of house at a variety of venues, communicate with the stage managers, and overall make sure that every show I was charged with ran smoothly. When I accepted the job I had no idea all that went into it. The customer service aspect was huge and over the summer I recognized the necessity of persuasion in communicating to do my job. There are many aspects to persuasion that I needed to understand to persuade people effectively. Nonverbal communication was important in my job. Most of the people I interacted with I had never seen before and because of this the way I presented myself was extremely important. My Interlochen uniform was a light blue or white polo tucked in with navy blue bottoms. This was important because it allowed patrons understand just b y looking at me that I was an employee. A requirement was also that hair, nails and makeup was all well maintained and clean. A study found that people believe â€Å"that uniforms have a positive impact on customer perceptions of overall service quality† (Karl 452). Red wine varietals Essay Red Wine VarietalsThese choices of red wines represent the five most common varieties sold in restaurants today. These wines were chosen to give a broad overview of different grape varieties as well as different countries, from an introductory point of view. Each wine in it self has significant characteristics, such as, different varieties of fruit, tannins, colors, finishes, and bodies. Each of these different wines have been paired with a different food (served appetizer fashion) slightly complimenting its body of essence. Each food was chosen because of its unique flavor, whether it be strong or delicate, not to over power the wine, but to add something to it. Most wines do not stand-alone well, like a Cabernet for example. This French Bordeaux grape variety tends to be full bodied with a long finish, and thus is typically blended in a Bordeaux style. AOC doctrine dictates that a Cabernet-Sauvignon contain at least 75% Cabernet, the finishing couvie is up to the Estwte (or whom ev er the harvester might be) but is commonly blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, or a Malbec. A lighter flavored, yet full bodied featured on our wine list is the Australian Shiraz. This grape variety is a descendant of the French Syrah, found in the northern Rhone region of France. Characteristically high in alcohol and full bodied, the Shiraz is of the same vine, just spelled differently. Working our way around the globe we find ourselves in Tuscany, Italy. Chianti, over the years, has developed a tarnished image of being a cheap table wine. Most of us have melted candles at one time or another, in a Chianti bottle covered in a reed woven basket. There are three types of quality levels of Chianti, the lowest being Chianti, a step up would be Chianti Classico (from inner Chianti), and the highest Chianti Classico Riserva (from classico region, aged three years). Chianti is a commonly blended using Sangiouese (50-80% for body and character), Canaiolo (10-30% for a frui ty flavor). Some times the addition of Trebbiano and Malvasia (10-30%) is added to soften the wine. As the wines continue to soften we find ourselves back in the Bordeaux region of France. The Merlot is a somewhat lighter colored grape, as compared to the Cabernet, is not as heavy, and tends to be somewhat fruitier. When discussing red wines of Bordeaux, there are three quality levels we must examine, proprietary, regional, and chateau. Proprietary tends to refer to table wines that have been given specific names and marked such. They are relatively inexpensive and are considered consistent drinking wines. Regional wines come from a defined area. Only grapes and wines made in that region can be called by its regional name. An example of this would be Medoc or St-Emilion. Finally, Chateau wines are products of individual vineyards. These grapes are harvested, made and bottled at a particular chateau. Chateau wines are considered the best quality of the wines in Bordeaux. Without leav ing France, we head east into the Burgundy region, to examine the lightest of our wines on the list, the Pinot Noir. Of all the wines we have discussed so far have been a couvie of some sort. Yet, red wines produced in the Burgundy region are mostly 100% Pinot Noir, with the exception of the Beaujolais gamay variety which suprisingly is 100% Gamay. These wines tend to be light in color and flavor, standing alone quite nicely. Pinot Noirs tend to make an excellent late night drinking wine with out the accompaniment of food.

A Look at Demographics and Economics Demography is defined as the quantitive and scientific study of vital statistical information that together illuminates the changing structure of human populations. As a more general science, demography can and does study any dynamic living population. For those focused on human studies, some define demography as plainly the scientific study of human populations and their characteristics. The study of demography often leads to the categorization and segmentation of people based on their shared characteristics  or traits. The origin of the word further solidifies the studys relationship to its human subjects. The English word demography is derived from the French word  dà ©mographie  which stems from the Greek word  dÄ“mos  meaning populace or people. Demography as the Study of Demographics As the study of human populations, demography is essentially the study of demographics. Demographics are the statistical data relating to a defined population or group that are collected and analyzed.  Demographics can include the  size, growth, and geographical distribution of human populations. Demographics can further consider characteristics of a population like age, sex, race, marital status, socioeconomic status, level of income, and level of education.  They can also include the collection of records of births, deaths, marriages, migrations, and even incidence of disease within a population.  A demographic, on the other hand, generally refers to a particular sector of the population. How Demographics Are Used The use of demographics and the field of demography is widespread. Demographics are used by governments, corporations, and other non-government entities to learn more about a populations characteristics and the trends within that population. Governments may use demographics to track and assess the effects of their policies and to determine whether a policy had the intended effect or carried unintentional effects both positive and negative. Governments may use individual demographics studies in their research, but they also generally collect demographics data in the form of a census. Businesses, on the other hand, may use demographics to judge the size and influence of a potential market or to assess the characteristics of their target market. Businesses may even use demographics to determine whether their goods are ending up in the hands of the people the company has deemed their most important customer group. The results from these corporate demographics studies generally lead to a  more effective use of marketing budgets. Within the field of economics, demographics can be used to inform anything from economic market research projects to economic policy development. As important as the demographics are themselves, demographic trends are equally as important as the size, influence, and even interest in certain populations and demographic groups will change over time as a consequence of changing political, social, and economic situations and affairs.

They are called the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. The epidermis is the first layer of skin and is approximately as thick as a piece of paper; it also covers most of the body. The dermis is the second layer of skin and is approximately 15-45 times as thick as the epidermis, depending on the individual. The subcutaneous tissue is the third layers and varies in thickness, also depending on the individual. The skins color depends on the amount of brown pigment melanin that is made in your skin. Melanin is formed by the melanocytes in the epidermis. Most people have about the same amount of malnocytes but the amount of melanin formed depends on the persons heredity. Some disorders of the skin are called inflammation, bacteria, fungi, viruses and infections. Inflammation is a type of skin disorder where the skin itches and becomes red. Eczema is a skin disorder where the skin may get crusty and ooze fluid. Atrophic Eczema is a skin disorder where that mostly children get. This disease appears mostly on the face, back of the neck, knees and inner arm. Bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses cause infections. Bacteria cause infections such as boils and impetigo. Fungi cause infections such as ringworm and athletes foot. Parasites are organisms that infect the skin like lice, scabies and mites. Viruses cause skin disorders such as cold sores and shingles. Another problem with the skin is burning. Fire, chemicals, electric shock and overexposure to the sun are common causes of burns.
